Notices of Motion

Motion to change Constitution

Motion to change the wording of Clause 28.2 of the Constitution to “If upon the winding up or dissolution of the Branch there remains, after the satisfaction of all liabilities, any property whatsoever, the same shall not be paid to or distributed among the members of the Branch but shall be given or transferred to another branch of the National Association or to the National Association for charitable purposes. If there are no other charitable branches of the National Association or the National Association does not exist, at that time, then surplus assets must be transferred to an organisation for charitable purposes similar to the purposes of the Branch, to be determined by a resolution passed by a majority of the members of the Branch present in person at the general meeting to be held according to these rules at or before the winding up or dissolution of the Branch.

The background to this change is that the new Constitution adopted by the Branch at the 2021 AGM did not meet the requirements of the Charities Commission. In order to maintain the charitable status of the Branch, the Constitution must be updated to provide for the transfer of property to a “charitable branch” of the National Association or to the National Association “for charitable purposes” upon the dissolution of the Branch.

Remit to adopt a Branch Strategy

It is proposed that the Branch Committee adopt the Branch Strategy for the purpose of guiding the committee in its service to the Branch and its Members.
The proposed Branch Strategy document can be viewed here.

Media Manager Required

The committee is seeking expressions of interest for the role of Media Manager for the Branch. Ideally this person will have experience in marketing, website development and social media management. If this sounds like you or a member you know please contact Reuben or Grant to discuss.

The AGM is an important occasion for the Branch and all members are strongly encouraged to attend. The election of Branch Officers and Committee Members to serve the Branch for the next year is significant for our organisation as these volunteers will make many important decisions on behalf of the Branch and its Members over the next 12 months in office. Strong participation in the election of Officers is essential for the legitimacy of their leadership of the Branch and Committee.

It is also an opportunity to hear about all the unseen work the committee has been doing, what has been achieved over the past year and what to expect from the Branch in the coming year.

At the AGM the financial report will be given and you will have the opportunity to ask questions about the Annual Financial Statements. This is an opportunity to further understand the strength of our organisation and the significance of our Branch as a local representative body and a charity in service of our community.
